Frankfurt is really a clean, nice city. Its a welcomed break from the hustle and bustle of Paris. The hostel is amazingly clean and nice for only 20 Euro a night.
Today I got a break from Fernando because he was sleeping and I met a Kiwi (New Zealand) girl named Sarah that I walked around the city all day with. Don't get me wrong, he is such a nice guy! He's just really hard to handle all day by myself. Tomorrow we'll rent a volkswagen and drive to some of the smaller German cities that are out there.
Germany that I have seen so far is totally different from Paris. Everything is so clean and well organized. The people seem so much more simple, nice, and friendly. I was hoping to go to Oktoberfest this weekend, but I don't think I will be able to find a convenient enough sleeping arrangement. Damn. Sarah did help me pick out a really bitchin Gortex/Fleece jacket so I might wind up heading to Austria instead to try it out.

So when does Fernando go back to Brazil? Is he travelling with you for the rest of your trip in Europe?
Who is driving? And who has insurance? (You don't)
Other than the fact that he knows his way around...Gay Paris, so to speak :) (which suggests that he's been around that block a few times) what concerns me most is that this total stranger has gained your confidence enough to make you change your original travel plans. Seriously, from what you write, you know absolutely nothing about this guy except that ...he wants you to think that you know everything about him, even things he hasn't told his family (...yea, right). I see red flags all over. This is how "con-"(fidence) schemes start. I wouldn't let him drive me out to the country, if I were you, nor any other place for that matter, especially if he wants you to meet "some German friends" or some such thing...
Remember: "Be Aware"...
Argh! Go to Oktoberfest! Don't lt people you just me tell you where to go... leave that to your brother-in-law. Besides, I need a stein. ;)
Seriously though, of all the great annual events that happen in the world, Oktoberfest is one of them, and you are right there! You should really check it out. Those other countries aren't going to close down until next year ya know. Plus doing something that Fernando doesn't want to do might help you get away from him.
Oh yea, it definitely sounds like Fernando is a little "light in the loafers" if you know what I mean. If you don't know, it means gay.
